Forked-tailed Drongos mimic the alarm calls of a variety of other species (including Southern Pied Babblers and Cape Starlings) to scare and steal food from them. In Drongos, vocal mimicry appears to have the function of deceiving other species, a behavior whose adaptive benefits had rarely been demonstrated.
